Cecil is a native Georgian, attended the University of Georgia and, of course, is an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He spent most his adult years in the linen rental and linen wholesale business. His love (we should say "obsession") for fish began about a decade ago when his wife, Peggy, asked him to construct a water garden for her. His reply was, "What do we need with a water garden? We have a swimming pool." Peggy persisted, however, and the first water garden was built. Within days, Cecil was out buying fish for HIS new pond. When that first pond was beyond capacity he built another. Then another. Then another. And - finally - there were five.
There was a shortage of information on fish health when Cecil's first fish fell ill. He spent all his spare time reading and researching. He attended Dr. Johnson's seminar -- twice and, when conventional medicines would not rid his fish of disease, he experimented with new antibiotics. KoiUSA published his koi health news release of September 1997 that documented the work he did with Cipro & Septra.
Cecil continues to work with fish health, helping others with prevention of disease as well as instruction on medical treatments. He is focusing now on finding a new location for the water garden center and his service work.
