Birds Fight Over New Suet
The Doc and I have many types of birds visiting our deck at home where we have several feeders lined up offering everything from peanuts to woodpecker cakes. The most in demand of all the feeding stations is the suet feeder that contains the new INSECT SUET by Pine Tree Farms. In fact, at any given time one can find several birds of same and different species fighting over it.
When I first saw the Insect Suet I was attracted by the name and thought of it as a novelty item. I purchased a case of it along with several other of the delicious-sounding suet cakes from Pine Tree Farms. Pine Tree Farms suet cakes are, by far, the best I’ve found. The blueberry actually smells like blueberry and they have a great assortment of different gourmet flavors.
I really didn’t expect the insect suet to be any more popular than the others but the moment I stepped away after placing one of the cakes into my feeder several mockingbirds began eating from it. A day and a half later all the suet was gone. I decided to test to see if it was the location of the suet feeder or the flavor of the suet that attracted the birds so I placed the insect suet in the other suet cage located all the way across the deck. The birds flocked to it. Although they liked any and all suet cakes by Pine Tree Farms I am definitely sold on the new insect flavor and try to keep one available for them at all times.
