MY Absolute Favorite Koi

Smokey Jo was somewhat of a legend at the store.  She is one of our prettiest and friendliest koi and she taught customers who met her love for her variety, Gin Rin Suragoi.  She was bought for us in Japan by the folks at Blue Ridge Fish Hatchery.  They used her to breed before we picked her up and produced some beautiful babies, one named Sister still with us in our pond.  We were lucky to get our hands on many of her offspring and they sold like wildfire.  This must have been 4 years ago...

Smokey Jo loves junk food.  One story I love to tell about her is the time she was in our show pond at the Southeast Flower Show.  People were lined up along the pond watching Smokey Jo who was the Belle of the Ball.  I was alarmed to see something orange all over her mouth - until I saw the kid with a handful of Cheetos.

She's my love!  The Doc and I fight over her all the time.
