"Our Gentle Giant"

Hannah has given Smokey Jo a run for her money.  She is fast becoming Cecil's favorite koi.  A lovely example of a Hi Utsuri, Hannah hasn't lost her looks with age!

She is the largest of all our koi, about 30 inches, I think, but she is sooooo gentle.  She always eats from the hand gently nibbling on the food, never jerking or forceful.  She is a smart cookie too!  She has learned to tip the skimmer basket to free up the food that has collected inside.  It's entertaining to watch the other koi hang with her because they know she'll provide them with floating morsels. 

Hannah came to us because she was about to lose her home.  Her parents sadly had to sell off their beautiful jumbo koi and, though we felt sad for them, we were happy to get her.  I wish I had a way to contact them now to let them know that Hannah is happy, healthy and being spoiled in a large, new pond.
