Modern Day Mannekin Pis Creates a Splash at Southeastern Flower Show
Dateline: Atlanta, Georgia
A prankster proclaiming himself a modern day mannekin pis was caught in the act as he “admired” one of the gardens at the Southeastern Flower Show recently held at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta.
Actually the perpetrator is my brother, Jeff, and we were goofing around during the last hours of the show.
The Pond Doc and Neil Boyce of Blades and Blossoms once again teamed up to present a garden at the show. It featured a unique raining gazebo waterfall made of cedar and we even had a remote-controlled fishing boat to emphasize our theme of “Island of Fun”. The Doc brought several jumbo koi, including BiJou, from the cement pond at the store. They were our best sales people as they charmed their way into the Peach Buzz section of the Atlanta Journal & Constitution. They also enjoyed pushing around the remote-controlled boat.
Our garden won the Coastal Pond Award for Best Water Feature and also the Show Chairman’s Trophy. By the way, the stylish hat Jeff is wearing in the photo was created by his little girl, Shelley, at the show — but we know who the real kid of that family is…
