| Frogs will give you warts. Some Australia Aborigines & Native Americans believe that frogs bring rain. The Chinese see the "Toad in the Moon", not the "Man in the Moon." Toads are also considered one of the five poisons of yin. Frogs are a symbol of good luck in Japan. Some say you can tell what kind of year youll have by the first frog found in spring. If its sitting on dry land you will shed as many tears as it takes for the frog to swim away. If it jumps in the water youll have misfortune all year. If it jumps in your direction youll have many friends but if it jumps away from you youll lose some of your friends. |

| There is no guarantee that your frog
will make himself at home in and around your pond. Given a desirable place to sleep and a
calm, peaceful environment, its quite possible he will decide that there truly is no
place like home and will stake claim to your pond area as his own.
Give him a safe place to sleep. During the winter he acts very much like a fish. He will sleep and go semi-dormant. For this hell need a dark, damp place that is not in harms way. A toad house specifically designed for enjoyment of frogs and decorating the pond area will work great. If you cant find one or if you are feeling creative you can build him a little home. If you have a broken terracotta pot lying around you can turn over half the pot so that the pot is a hollow tunnel. Line it with mulch and leaves. Water it often and keep it moist. Locate it in the shade, if possible, and near the pond. |

The 1st 4 weeks of our tadpoles life is spent eating its own egg yolk and attaching himself to floating plants and debris. By the 4th week our little tadpole has a silky skin and will begin swimming around and becoming sociable. It has tiny teeth that are used to crunch up and eat algae. The legs begin popping out at 6 weeks. His head starts to look like a frogs head and hell add more things to his diet like small insects and plants. A bullfrog tadpole can strip anacharis clean at this stage. At 9 weeks he is a tiny frog with a long tail. By the 12th week our little tadpole has matured enough to leave the water although he may still have a bit of his tail left. At 16 weeks our little tadpole is all grown up and is an adult frog.
