The sunny patio is trimmed with color from flowers and shrubs. A trumpet vine grows over the arbor gate that welcomes visitors into the Fletcher’s backyard retreat. Twin waterfalls, one into the lower pond and one into the pool, create the right amount of background music for entertaining and relaxation.
The pond and most of its surroundings were designed and constructed by Press himself. He created a quite unique and impressive water feature. The rock border around the top pond appears to seep water — an effect that Press passes off as a “piece of cake” to do. He’s done a wonderful job of hiding the components that make his 4000-gallon pond healthy and a breeze to maintain. The ProBead filter is hidden in the trees and camouflaged with paint. The external pump, piping and UV are all buried so not to distract from the naturalness of the area.
The Fletcher Pond was featured on our Saturday AM Tour de’ Ponds last August. Visitors to the pond remarked not only about how lovely it all was — they made it a point to let me know how helpful and polite Press was with answering the ton of questions presented to him.
