Retired Store Kitties

Rascal & Jello

Rascal & Jello spent the first 7 years of their life as working cats.  It took them a few years but eventually they cleared the whole building of the little mice that plagued our 1930's building.  Sadly for our customers but good for them - they are no longer at the store.  We have retired them from active duty and they are now very pampered kitties at our house in Dahlonega.

Here is a picture of them now...

As you can see, they are soooooo overworked!  Jello's on the top and Rascal's below.

Below are some memories of them at the store.  Click on the thumbnails for enlarged pictures.

.....  Pass your mouse over the black area to see Rascal's amazing trick!

.....  Here's another one!

Rascal's Portrait

Image03.jpg (560564 bytes) Magellan (aka Jello) and Rascal were two of three kittens born to "Mama Kitty" the resident feral cat at our house.  We originally brought them, along with their 3rd brother, to the store so we could give them away to good homes.  We found a home for the 3rd brother right away.  After a week or so the two remaining found a place in our hearts...and under the cash register.

EscapeComp.jpg (35320 bytes) Rascal has always been the sociable kitty while Jello is the disciplinarian.  When Rascal was small enough to fit, he would try his best to leave by crawling inside purses or bags left near the cash register.  He still tries to fit sometimes with very little luck.

MonkeyCatsComp.jpg (35264 bytes) Jello became our best "working cat".  He truly is our form of pest control.  Because of him we have no mice at the store.  Here he is showing us that there's no monkey business around the store while he's on watch.

Brotherly Luv.jpg (36335 bytes) These two are womb-mates and have never been separated.

Eyes Closed.jpg (37877 bytes) They have bad hair days too...

CaughtYa!Comp.jpg (32070 bytes) Rascal has a passion for filing.  In fact, if a file drawer is left open, he may just rearrange the whole thing! -- which, by the way, he's done a couple of times.

RascalTrapComp.jpg (48977 bytes) Rascal earns his name as the resident "rascal" by getting into places he shouldn't be.

RascalonQMSComp.jpg (31976 bytes) ...including becoming a paper jam.  Here Rascal is shown laying on the printer.  If I don't move him he blocks the paper from coming out.
