Algae Bloom
Algae bloom is green water, not string or blanket algae. It feeds off sunlight and nutrients in the water. Very few chemicals will instantly get rid of green water (and still be safe for fish and plants) though you can use some pond-balancing enzymes that will encourage the pond to balance and clear up. That method, though, will take time.

Algaecides

I don't care if the
manufacturer states that these types of algaecides are safe for fish and plants
--- we know better. We've seen it kill both. Use these types of
Algaecides to clear up fountains or water features that do not contain fish or
plants. These work by killing the algae and you will need to treat the
water quite often.

Balancing Agents
Many products claim to clear up green water
but fall short of expectations. The fact is that they "help" balance the
pond. Some ponds never reach the clear balance but some can. It just
takes time and patience and lots of plants to absorb the nutrients. These
balancing agents are great to use in the pond anyway so if you would like to see
if your pond can reach its balance and clear up, you have nothing to lose if you
try them. Remember, however, patience... patience... patience...
