One of the most important and often overlooked necessity of the outdoor pond is its electrical requirements.  Pumps, Ultraviolet Water Clarifiers and Lighting all need electricity.  Unless you have your equipment hard-wired you will need electricity by the pond.  So - why not organize it.  You can even have the lighting on timers so that it turns off after you go to bed, saving you in electricity.
