Our choice is clear when it comes to a mid-range quality
filter that is back-washable and affordable too! The TetraPond 4000 Filter
combines sponge pads and bio-rings to offer adequate
biological and mechanical filtration for smaller goldfish ponds and water
gardens - ponds with light fish loads. We do NOT recommend this filter for true koi ponds.
For them we recommend
ProBead filters. One-step back-flush makes it easier than most
mid-range filters to clean and the filter can be buried so that it can be
hidden in the garden. Units with UVs are available and Upgrade kits
as well so if you decide later on to add a UV the upgrade kit makes it
easy to do.
Maximum flow is 2000 gph. The unit is 23" high. The UV that comes with the upgraded unit is 18 watts. (We do not recommend the UV upgrade for ponds with more than 1500 gallons. A better choice of UV for ponds over 1500 to 2000 gallons is an Emperor 40 watt. For ponds up to 3000 gph you need the 40 watt Emperor AND the 18 watt UV Upgrade if you want clear water!) |
