Here's our personal thoughts on books about
water gardening and koi ponds:
The Doc and I have read many books that are
published about water gardens, pond construction, koi health, fish varieties,
goldfish --- gosh, you name it! Many times we pick them apart. As
you all know, just because something's in print doesn't mean it's true.
We try to pick out the "good things" from each book. For example, we
like the photography in many of the books we see and we like the plant lists
and descriptions of water plants. But we take the methods of pond
construction for a healthy pond extremely serious. Hardly any of the
books we read on the subject meet with our satisfaction. Actually, the
books we like best we do not presently have a supplier for - and that would
include The Encyclopedia of Koi and other fish-health related books as well.
We would suggest purchasing the following books
if you are looking for a nice resource for inspiration or would like to know
more about plants and water gardens - but not for koi pond construction
techniques and health advice. Luckily, we have a huge resource for that
- right here - at PondDoc.com! You can, of course, always feel free to read
up on whatever topic you need to know about at our own online publication, What's Up, Doc?.
