The Garden Under Construction

This year we began a day earlier than normal.  We had more space to work with and wanted to take advantage of any time we could have to work on the garden and pond.  Neil's normal crew constructed the pond while his stone masons worked on the walls.  It took a total of 6 lo-o-o-ng days to construct.

Construction2Comp.jpg (40475 bytes) We were able to avoid the problem we had last year with the koi stirring up dirt from the plants by thoroughly washing the plants before they went into the water then topping them off with rinsed egg rock.
The water level was 2 feet to give the koi plenty of elbow room.  Bog areas were created one either side and, although we tried to keep the koi out of the bog area by constructing a rock barrier, they were able to break through with ease!
Neil's crew did an excellent job with the stonework!

Yes, there was a leak (actually two) but we were able to locate and repair them before they caused any problem.
